It has definitely been a while since I have posted and a lot has happened in my personal life and in my professional life that has caused such a delay. I have plans of where my blog will progress with board/card game reviews, book reviews, and blog post about social justice issues as it relates to both, but I am struggling to find the time to construct my posts to start moving forward. A couple things you can expect moving forward: a tile laying, space exploration review/preview of a game currently on Kickstarter, a review of the wonderful tactical card game Smash Up, getting ready for the new expansion, a book review on a book about veterans based around The Odyssey, and a review of a convention I went to in February. For now, I wanted to give you all an update on my challenges as well as some other goals for the year.
Goodreads 45 Book Challenge
I have read 10 books out of 45 so far this year. I am 2 books ahead of schedule according to the Goodreads projections. I am halfway through two more books and should be finished with both before March ends. I started the Game of Thrones series, which may have been a mistake but I’ll probably read all of those this year seeing how fast they go and how engaging they are. I hope to write more book reviews but again, I am not finding the time to reflect on my book experience.
10×10 Challenge: Exploring Depth
This challenge is progressing pretty slowly as I rarely play repeated games because of the culture of my gaming groups. This is frustrating and a good thing at the same time. In my gaming groups I can try out a lot of games and play a lot of the new games to see which ones I may want for my collection, but I really really love the games in my collection and it pains me not to get them to the table. I dislike the culture of the new and unreleased but take part of it nonetheless in order to be social with my hobby. Hooray for older games!
100×1 Challege: Exploring Diversity
I am right at the 65ish mark of the 100×1 Challenge with a little over 30 unique games to go. I have progressed pretty well on this challenge as I did last year and I ended up extending my challenge to 150 last year. With my collection growing, it has been easier to get up to 100 and I am sure I will pass the goal way before 2016 comes to an end.
Other Goals
I haven’t acquired any of the games or books that were on my anticipated list. I have been a bit more active on social media and making connections. I have now over 500 followers on Twitter (yay!) and joined some groups to get pre-released books/games to play and review. Overall a good start to the year but very busy. More to come soon!
