May 2017 Giveaway

May 2017 Giveaway

Hello all! This month, I was perusing some used book sales and happened across a couple I already owned or read but think other folks should have the chance. I am giving them away as a bundle at the end of this month!

What are the books you ask?

Push by Sapphire

This book is hard. Extremely hard to get through and to read about the horrendous abuse the main character, Precious, goes through. This book is polarizing to many – all for lifting the voices of the abused and survivors of sexual assault and on the other side, not wanting to subject themselves and others to these horrors. Do I think this is a necessary read? No, because it’s hard and can be extremely triggering. But if you have not heard Precious’ experience, it may be one for you to check out. TW: sexual assault, abuse, incest

Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

This is a contemporary novel about a multiracial family living in Ohio. Celeste Ng is able to construct a riveting view into a contemporary family life once tragedy strikes. This is high on my TBR and I am aiming to read it this year! I have heard nothing but good things.

Paradise by Toni Morrison

Toni Morrison is a fantastic storyteller who often tells real, brutal truths of black communities in the United States. Paradise is no different, looking at an all-black community in rural Oklahoma. I enjoyed The Bluest Eye and Beloved and am looking forward to Paradise.

How can you enter? Leave a comment below and I’ll enter you into the contest. I can ship to the USA but depending on the cost, I may have to split costs to international shipping since there is no international media mail. Best of luck to you all!
