The end of book one was a pretty big cliffhanger and I am wondering how the author will pick up Lula’s story without a lot of character development.

I cared a lot about the characters and like you said the mythical creatures were all very memorable and in my opinion all had a powerful sub-story line in Alex’s journey. I am super excited to get back to Los Lagos. There is so much potential and depth and detail.

It was not too expensive but my extra-curricular budget is quite small. Between new/used books, board/card games, and outings, I usually never have the money to buy a new hardcover. It was quite a bit less expensive than adult novels which I appreciate. It’s definitely worth it though to support the author and my local store who chose to stock a diverse book.

I also thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. Though I went in with some reservations because I had seen some people criticize the characters and the love triangle. Some people say they just couldn’t bring themselves to care about the characters. What!? I loved the cast. Granted, it mostly focused on Alex, Rishi, and Nova, but the side characters were interesting enough and we’ll get to know them better in later books. And my goodness, the fantastical creatures were the highlight of the book for me. And Los Lagos! The place just felt so alive and dangerous. I understand that it may not have felt all that new and perhaps it did seem like the trio was going from obstacle to obstacle, but it was still a fun ride!
I’m so glad you bought this book to show your support. 😀 It wasn’t that expensive, wasn’t it? YA hardcovers are usually less expensive than adult ones.
Anyway, hope you’re ready for the chat on October 15th!
